My Haunted Life! I'm 44, (now 49) My hubby & I have been married for 26 yrs (now 30 yrs)! We have 3 Wolf Hybrids, 1 Alaskan Malamute, 2 cats & lotsa fish (salt & fresh water) Our 1st date was New Years Eve 1980, We got married 45 Days later, on February 14th, 1981 (Valentines Day)~ *Please note, the rest of this blog below is pretty heavy stuff!!! Don't read it if your not interested in my personal woes!!! *One month after 9-11-01, on Oct. 27th 2001 my husband had a massive stroke, (80% of of the left side of his brain was affected), He was in coma, the doctors said he would never wake up & if he did "He would never walk, & he would never talk again!" I said, "Well you know what, You don't know him, You don't know how strong willed & independent he is, He will prove you wrong!" The doc looked at me & said, "I hope he does!" I told his parents too, "He ain't goin' anywhere, I won't LET him, We promised each other forever & forever ain't here yet!!!" 5 day's later he awoke from his coma, he couldn't walk & he couldn't talk, within a few day's after he woke & his strong determination, he slowly starting speaking again, now mind you they were only a few words at a time, but he was talking! Next thing I knew, about 8 days after the stroke, I came in to find him with his therapists, He was walking around the nurse's desk in ICU! Now, meanwhile in another state my mother/my best friend, is battling terminal lung cancer! (more to follow) 3weeks later, he gets outta the hospital in a wheelchair, not even 24hrs after he was home, he kicked that wheelchair to the curb, LOL! 1 day after thanksgiving (5 days out of hospital for him) I get a phone call from my step-dad, "You better get out here now, your mom has 30-60 days to live!" (now mind you, the doctors said she was in "full remission" just 5 days prior to this phone call!) So we call my husbands Dr. & say we need to go to Oregon right away, my mom's cancer is terminal, I need to be with her!!! He gives him permission to go, after making all the arrangements for our animals, hubby's meds, etc., we leave 3 days later! We drive thru the worst blizzard I've ever experienced in 28yrs of living in snow, so bad that not even semi's were on the road that night! I can't even count how many cars we saw off the road, or how many semi's we saw jack-knifed that day & night, (& the jack-knifed semi's had chains on! we didn't have any chains!) at one point we ended up spinning down the highway on black ice, & got stuck in a drift on the side of the highway, snow all the way up the drivers side door & a state trooper came by & dug us out & got us back on the road! We got there as fast as we could! We were supposed to be at the hotel by 6pm, we didn't get there til 4am the next morning! Just hours before we finally got to my mom's house, (from the hotel room) I called my step-dad to tell him how close we were, (we were in Ogden, Utah, approx. 8hrs away), He told me that my mom died at 2:00am that morning! 2 hours before we got to Ogden!!! & 5 days after the phone call where he told me she had "30-60 days" to live! 30-60 days turned out to be 5 days!!! & I got there 18 hours After she died!!! I didn't get to say I love you, goodbye, nothing!!! My "step-dad" didn't have funeral for her, no memorial service, no goodbye, nothing!!! It was just like *poof* She just doesn't excist anymore!!! (She fought this battle bravely for 7 months, chemo & radiation therapy, 7hrs a day, 5 days a week, for that 7 months!!!) She was my best friend & the only family I have besides my husband!!! (I have 2 sister's, but that's a whole other dysfunctional story! (along with my real dad, who was highly abusive to me for 18yrs & my Mom for 13yrs, both physically & mentally, broken bones, etc. etc.!) (I lost 6 babies due to the abuse as well) Never to my 2 sister's, only me, he used to tell me, "Well you were 1st born, You were supposed to be a "son" AND your responsible for WHATEVER your sisters do wrong too!!!" So even though he's still alive (in a different state), we don't talk much!!!) So anyway, back to the rest of the story! After all this, with his stroke & my mom's death, we come back home & start the fight of our life against his employer! Whom he'd been a loyal employee of for the last 16yrs before the stroke! He never missed a day of work there, not a sick day, not 1 hour, ever! That after 2yrs of full time physical, occupational, & speech therapy, (the only thing that's not recovering is the use of his right hand!) so he could "Go back to work!" & they decided To just FIRE HIM!!! We sued (under ADA) his employer, BUDWEISER to be Exact, & We Lost!!! We fought for 4 & 1/2yrs, our lawyers spent $150,000 on our case, & the arbitrator sided with Them!!! (forced arbitration, forced by "Butt"weiser!) Surprise, Surprise!!! We know they paid that SOB off!!! (The decision came back April 2006) So now hubby has been a full-time student for past 2 years & we're trying to start all over again in our mid-fourties!!! We live on a very limited income (his disability, just above the poverty line), & I have alot of health issues myself that prevent me from getting a job too, so now that I've found IMVU, I'm trying to save up enough money so I can buy my avatar name & become a developer & try to help us get a little more income coming in!!! A note to all concerned... I've recently experienced an extremely serious health issue, 01-27-10 thru 02-02-10 I ended up in the hospital with diabetic ketoacidosis, with a blood sugar level of 561, hypothermic with a temperature of 90 degrees, unbeknownst to me, I'm a diabetic, & have now been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes! To quote my ICU nurse "I've see many people come in with what you had, you're the first person I've seen survive it!" I spent 2 & 1/2 days in ICU, as well as 2 & 1/2 days in the regular part of the hospital, I'd also developed gallstones, which also caused, acute, severe pacreatitis, as well as high blood pressure, besides already having (pre-existing) Graves Disease! Due to this extremely serious, permanent, life-changing health issue, I will no longer be to dedicate ALL my time to creating new products for you, (*Please know... This unfortunately necessary decision has broken my heart, as I LOVE to create!) I will continue to create, just on a minimal basis for now!
